He is not yet of age but Equeurdrevillais Clement Martin is experiencing rapid progress. “I feel very good physically at the end of the year,” observes the AS resident Tourlaville. “At the moment I’m preparing more for running, especially with the Regional since La Presse de la Manche makes strides in the viewer. Then I’m going to take a month off and then resume cycling training to prepare for the new season. »
A competitor at heart
the Cherbourg just completed his second full season of cycling. “I used to do athletics but I was bored. My first year in cadet 2 was difficult because there were only difficult races. I got it anyway, ”relates what he classified this summer, 1huh junior at the Grand Prix de la Sainte-Anne in Bricquebec.
The transition between running and cycling was quite logical. “I love competition in general and wanted to get back into a sport that is physically tough. Running has helped me in terms of cardio and allows me to maintain pretty high thresholds,” confides the son of Gregory70 amateur road wins in the 1990s.
“Sport takes up a lot of my time”
Currently in final year Millet institute, Clément Martin has to reconcile sport and studies. “School comes first, but sport takes up a lot of my time during the week,” he admits. The Cotentinois learned from their first races played alongside the seniors.
“They have much more experience. It shows me that I need to run smarter and make fewer mistakes. I take my dad’s advice, he knows the inner workings of racing and knows how it goes. »
So, Clement Martin he realizes his areas of improvement for 2023. “I need to work on power and improve my career vision to analyze better. I would like to be in good shape all year round and perform everywhere! »
