FIFA has asked the Tunisian Football Federation for an explanation about a possible case of interference. The Tunisians could be excluded from the World Cup.
Tunisia ultimately failed to make the trip to Qatar. Less than a month before the competition, FIFA asked the Tunisian Football Federation by mail for details about a possible case of interference within the entity.
The Minister of Youth and Sports, Kamel Deguiche, has threatened to change the leaders of the Tunisian Football Federation. A possible interference that FIFA does not accept.
“It has been brought to our attention that the state authorities seem to want to interfere in the affairs of the Tunisian Football Federation, in particular considering the dissolution of the Federal Office of the FTF. In this regard, we would like to remind you that FIFA member associations are legally bound to manage their affairs independently and without undue influence from third parties.“, We can read in a letter dated October 24 and addressed to the president of the Tunisian Football Federation, Wadii Jarii.

Italy remains hopeful
FIFA has given Tunisia a few days to explain itself, but at the moment it seems that nothing is progressing in this case. Neither side can calm things down. Therefore, Tunisia could be sanctioned and not make the trip to Qatar. If this decision is made, the top ranked international team not qualified for the World Cup is drafted and therefore it is Italy who could take the spot.
